1. While walking from your car into a store, from parking lot. Stop at the person just finishing loading their car. Offer to take their cart in with you. It cost you nothing, except, a Random Act of Kindness.

4. Back when tuition was cheap and people paid union wages...

I financed my education largely from wages earned in grocery stores. People get paid to bring in carts. I never take a cart from someone unless they are really struggling with it. When baggers ask if I need help taking my stuff to the car I always respond, "Only if you really want to go outside."
