I couldn't be more proud. She's headed for Feinberg next. It's been a long time coming and yet in the blink of an eye.
Thankfully, there hasn't been a single bump (well, except graduation from H. S. during a pandemic) in the road that could have thrown her off.
I'm holding my breath through this campus unrest thing. She's so nose to the grindstone that she'd have a better chance of accidentally stumbling over it than willfully joining though.
Anyway, please join me in celebration of a real smartypants headed to med school. She definitely deserves the accolades!! She works exceptionally hard and even plays well with others, too.
But as a physician, I fully expect she'll run with scissors and in the direction of emergency situations.
Thankfully, those will be bandage scissors and not sewing shears.
So, heres to the girl! Long may she thrive!

(29,785 posts)Phi Bet is quite an effort, well-deserved. My brother made it (also now a doctor and loves his work!) so I saw the continuous exertion firsthand. Congrats to all the pants fam!

My daughter is also graduating this week with a degree in Biomedical Engineering with Research Honors Distinction.
Still looking for her career opportunity so if anyone knows someone in the medical devices industry...would love to make a connection for her.

I had to look up Feinberg, because I didn't recognize the name, and found out it's the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. I could not BE any more impressed!

(33,579 posts)She's got strong leadership skills in a not so obvious way. Sweet, compassionate and hasn't been a bit of trouble. We knew early on that we had hit the jackpot.
The goal has always been to keep her challenged, while providing her with opportunities to excel and thrive. But mostly she just needed us to stay out of the way.
I hope I live long enough to see how far she's going to go because I know she's on her way to humble greatness. It's been a wonderful ride. Too short but outstanding.
Thanks so much for taking the time. I really appreciate your reply.

Here's a summary for those who don't know what it's all about:
https://www.thoughtco.com/why-does-phi-beta-kappa-matter-786989
and the general requirements.

A well-rounded education is essential in order to navigate these times and to lead others.
Wishing her great success.

(33,579 posts)Many people have heard the term Phi Beta Kappa but dont take the time to really discern the meaning.
I think most would be surprised to find out that it requires one be fluent in a second language in addition to all of the other traits that you shared through the two links.
Thanks so much for joining me in this remarkable celebration. It means so much. Thank you. ❤️

The world needs more of those and listen less to the hollow drums beating loudly.
Congrats!

(12,217 posts)You have clearly done a great job, and she will almost certainly continue to have a great life all the way through. Med school is no joke, but I know she'll succeed. How could someone so worthy NOT?
My "middle" step-grand is cut from the same cloth. Honour roll all the way through high school, started uni in second semester of second year because she did the first 1 12 years by extension during Grades 11 and 12. (The others are also killing it, but your d's story is so close to M's, so that's who I'm focused on ATM)
Small surprise that she was also Honour Roll this year. Her mother, my "middle" stepdaughter, was her model. Smart, but ultra-hard working and the two of them never accepted less than excellence. So, please take a bow for everything you've done!
My wife - the mother and GM of these two, obviously - and I are busting our buttons over all of our grands. ALL are succeeding at life in absolutely grand fashion (no pun intended) and we couldn't be prouder of them and their parents.
PS....she was also voted Kindest, Most Popular and Prom Queen by her fellow graduating class. We have some spectacular humans in our lives, don't we?

(33,579 posts)Graduation is a privilege and a rite of passage many only dream about. It's important to celebrate everyone's potential. It's a great time to consider the fact that every one of us should try to lift each other up when we can.
Thanks again!
