Be careful when watering hanging baskets

Bird just scared the crap out of me. Was watering my hanging geranium basket and didn't realize the bird was in it. Apparently it got sprayed, flapped it's wings, flew off to a nearby tree, and kept screeching at me. Not that it understood me but I told it to shut up because I wasn't too pleased with the situation either. 🤣

Do check for eggs or other obvious nesting activity, though, so you don’t inadvertently give babies a dousing.

Equally scared the poop out of the bird as it did you.

Tap the bottom of the plant container before you dump the water in - to alert the bird Hurricaine BlueKota has arrived and coming through.

She will se the size of the eggs and say what,... am I suppose to sit on those monsters and hatch them ?

That would be about 200X the size of her standard eggs.

Put you phone out in the hanging planter, stand it up and lean it against the inside wall ofvyhe planter, then click this link. It is a widdle birdie movie for the litte runt.
Be sure to leave a little bowl of popcorn should da widdle birdie require movie snacks

I am not going to spray basket anymore but water around the nest with a bottle while Momma is out, so plant doesn't die.

Their is a Reddit group that exists just to show how terrible mourning doves are at building nests. They'll have a picture of an egg and a few sticks sitting on top of an AC unit - stuff like that.
There have been so many pictures of doves in planters, in flower boxes, you wonder how the species survives!
But yours does not sound like a dove; I can't imagine one of them scolding you for getting wet!

We do have 3 mourning doves on our deck. I have never seen one of their nests. I will have to look around for them.

...careful of clothes on the line, too.

Found more than one nest getting started in my jeans.
