It was great to hear from them.
And when the hell did we all get old? I keep getting shocked by this every time one of “my” bands does an interview or promo photos for new music. Time has flown by.

Near the end I got a little choked up and not because of Bill. What a huge part of my life they were.

One of my best friends used to say about me “For him, there’s REM and then eeeeveryone else”

When they actually completely broke up I was at work and I saw the headline. I said outloud but really to myself “REM broke up”. I didn’t get emotional, I just kind of just sat there. I knew it was coming in some form (like stop touring or recording) but it, it just happened. Coworkers must have sensed something because no one said a word for a good amount of time. They got it or at least what it meant to me.
