(22,727 posts)It's a bit rugged at times, even for one like me who likes their TV and movie fair a bit dark and serious. It truly is an amazing series.

If you're better than me at suspending disbelief, you may enjoy it.
If you a stickler for technical details, you may end up disappointed, like me.

(27,304 posts)So much goodness!!! The only episode that I didn't thoroughly enjoy was the one with the fly in the lab. And the plane crash coincidence was a bit much to swallow. Other than that, the series is so, so, so amazing!

The show was a must watch in several college drama classes due to the excellent acting and story presentation.

(20,982 posts)We toured the city where much of BB was filmed.
Behind Kirtland Air Force Base is a Museum where some scenes from Season 2 were filmed. As you enter, there are Perodic Tables of Chemistry on the floor. Very cool place.

(21,283 posts)I'm even in the same zip code. The original owners live there and put up a fence around it so fans have to keep their distance. The owners also don't have to deal with people throwing pizzas on the roof anymore!

nevergiveup
(4,815 posts)to have been exchanged from one great actor to another. There is no way this letter did not make Bryan Cranston's day.

(7,395 posts)Breaking Bad (BB) takes place from 2009 to 2011, and even though it is 5 seasons, it covers 2 years of Walter White. 1x1 starts on his 50th Birthday, and 5x16 (the last one) takes place on his 52nd birthday. The first season is only about 7 episodes, and was affected by the writers' strike at the time. The first several episodes of season 2 were supposed to be in season 1, as one can tell after watching them.
The spinoff, Better Call Saul (BCS), is actually a "prequel" and starts from 2004 goes to 2009, and includes some of 2011 and 2012 in a few scenes. We are introduced to Saul's character in BB's 2x8 episode titled "Better Call Saul", and the episode where it intersects with BB, BCS 6x11, is titled... "Breaking Bad". It details how Saul Goodman came to be, and what happens to him after BB when he 'goes on the run' near the end of the BB show. BCS is a 'slower burn' for many, as it covers more character development. It doesn't go 'fast' until maybe season 3, and is 6 seasons in total. Each season is about 13 episodes.
EDIT: There are a handful of characters in BCS that do not appear in BB, and BCS covers/explains why they are not.
Then there is the "El Camino" (2019) movie which covers the exploits of Jesse Pinkman, a main character in Breaking Bad, after he 'escapes' in the BB 5x16 finale.
There is a fan-made poster of a "Heisenberg" (2024) film (Heisenberg was Walter White's alter ego in BB), but it has not been confirmed by Vince Gilligan. It is still not known to be official yet as nothing really has been promoted by AMC either. The 'poster' has been making the rounds of various social media sites (FaceBook, InstaGram, TikTok) though.

(4,856 posts)If you like Breaking Bad, you will love Better Call Saul, which is a prequel series using many of the same actors and producers. Some of the best TV Ive ever seen.

(27,304 posts)Different pace, however. Some refer to it as a "slow burn." But still very enjoyable!

I'm a major movie/T.V. series aficionado. I've been watching and been completely engrossed in various shows through out my life. Breaking Bad is the best T.V. series ever I've ever seen. It is a masterpiece.

(5,292 posts)I'd have a hard time saying which I thought was better. Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn were superb though the strength of the acting extends throughout the entire cast. The thought and attention to detail in both series are remarkable. They make most streaming series seem slapdash and careless.
As just one example Mark Margolis (Hector), whose character is mute and confined to a wheelchair, is more eloquent using a bell and glowering expressions than most actors could achieve in a Shakespere soliloquy.

(31,454 posts)So imagine my surprise when I later watched him as the Judge in Your Honor on Showtime. His acting chops really surprised the hell outta me. I've never watched Breaking Bad, but I've only ever heard great things about it. I may have to watch it now, but I just didn't think I'd like BC as a dope dealing "bad guy".
