(130,537 posts)I won't eat potato salad or anything else made with it. I'll scrape it off a sandwich if some miscreant has defiled that sandwich with it. It's too sweet and the consistency is weird.

(44,738 posts)anytime she needs MAYO. Period. I am well trained relative to grocery shopping. Ive discovered over the years that women are quite loyal to their brand of mayo. I always add a shake or two of hot sauce to anything with mayo in it.

Or a Lebanese-style one that's dressed with olive oil and lemon juice.
If we make one that requires mayo, it's Hellmans.

(11,851 posts)Carbs are not my friend.
However, I looked in the frig and there is Tops Mayo, zero carbs in the Mayo and zero carbs in a can of tuna in water. I just wrote on the kitchen chalkboard to make tuna salad in a lettuce wrap for my first meal tomorrow. Yay!

(915 posts)That was quite a shock to the system after she moved my dad and I in with her.
My mom and grandma were staunch Miracle Whip people.
I like both.
But now I wanna try potato salad with cool whip,
but maybe just once, for the experience
Ive recently tried Kraft Real Mayonnaise made with olive oil. Half the fat. Its great, but still I dont eat that much mayo in recent years.

We haven't purchased Best Foods mayonnaise in a brazilian years, but the little recipe booklet is properly affixed to our refrigerator door.
Their macaroni salad recipe isn't half bad either, especially in HOT weather.

(3,581 posts)I make my potato salad with ranch salad dressing instead of the other two choices. I even use it in making tuna salad. I really hate mayo, and the Whip is even worse. Ranch just tastes so much better!

(17,821 posts)I don't eat it very often but that's what I prefer, especially in potato salad. I wouldn't put Miracle Whip in a potato salad, although I like it on sandwiches sometimes. A little mustard is good in potato salad along with the mayo, eggs, and relish. I like to put bacon in it sometimes, too, but that's for a special potato salad that I make sometimes. I have a couple of different recipes that I like to make.

(12,582 posts)After adding in the pickle relish, vinegar, celery seed, yellow mustard, mashed HB egg yolks, salt, pepper, and paprika, theres very little difference in the taste between the two.
I had some horrible potato salad last night - store made because I was skimping on time. I doubt there were anything other than potatoes and a bit of cheap mayo. I'm going to doctor up the leftovers for tonight.

(448 posts)With red potatoes of course. Wife and I made 2 big bowls for the family and friends coming this afternoon. Hope the rain holds off, but if not, well be inside and on the porch. Food stays inside, everyone eats where they want. We have a tent set up plus the porch and lots of island seating, just waiting for the masses to arrive. Kids will go to the pool, no matter if the suns shining or not.
Careful with fireworks, everyone. My dog is one of those scared to death of them. Hell spend the night trying to get on my lap. Hes a Lab, sort of a big lap dog. We can see enough fireworks from our house, we dont need to go anywhere.
Its a good day to celebrate America.
Enjoy the 4th, Deb.

I remember when I was growing up in TX, there was a dressing called Durkees. We loved it. I don't know when or why it quit being a staple in households.....or maybe it is.
