12. Raccoons have 5 digits, but not opposable thumbs. They make do.

13. I've encountered them when camping in a cabin at a state park.

They were bold and fearless about stealing food right off of our evening cooking fire outdoors. We learned quickly to cook earlier before they came out at dusk.

Their digits were flexible enough for them to grab the door handle of the cabin and juggle it from outside. We kept it locked.

Cute, but pesky little pests.

32. I worked as a kitchen aide one summer at Girl Scout Camp

The racoons could open just about any contraption devised. The camp had to build a fenced-in and locked cage.

While raccoons do have five dexterous toes, they do not have opposable thumbs like humans and cannot grip objects in the same way. However, they can manipulate objects with great ease, unlike other animals such as dogs or cats.

Years ago I worked at a junkyard, and my boss, whenever someone started to complain about the price of a part, he would say "Are you kidding? That's a bargain at HALF the price!" He usually got a confused look from the customer, and they paid the price.
