Lost power just a little ago. Not sure how strong the wind is. Havent lost any big limbs. So the tree trimmers I had out last year did a good job. Hoping my power will be restored later today. Im on the same circuit as the city hall, police department, and water department. So normally we get power back fairly fast. In between bands now. We should have whats left of the eye over us soon. It sounds like our city works department is already clearing a tree from the road north of us.
A few years back one of our trees fell across the road during a tornado. The city had it cleared off the road within a few hours. Its nice living in a small town.

(3,767 posts)Two big trees just fell over. They missed the house luckily.

(8,044 posts)So has the worst of it passed you now?
And it also missed a new replacement tree I planted about 3 years ago. Or rather one main branch went to one side of it and another went on the other side.
We still have some wind but not much.
Goofed up. Awhile back I bought one of the Saker mini battery powered chain saws. I used it some but didnt put it back on the charger. Cleared about half of the tree that made it into the street and the battery died. It did a lot better than I expected. I nibbled at a couple 6 inch limbs plus several smaller ones. But still have more to do. I am on the city list to have them remove the rest from the road.

(3,767 posts)At least now I can go somewhere if I need to. They will collect the limbs they cut and moved from the road later.

(3,767 posts)After the road was cleared drove to the store. Heard a noise in my car. The front engine shield that keeps water from splashing up in the motor was hanging down. I hadnt run over anything. I guess it was just its time to go.

(3,767 posts)But it shouldnt have. Fast moving and cat 1 took out millions of electric customers. I expect no more from the Texas electrical grid.
