(26,018 posts)Peter Sellers and David Niven never fails to make me laugh, especially the traffic circle scene of costumed people chasing each other around.
Also, Matilda. Amusing story of children against over-the-top adult villains.
A favorite comedy of mine is It's Complicated, with Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, and Alec Baldwin. Some good laugh out loud scenes.

(255,546 posts)I saw it live under some tent when I was just a little kid with my parents and brother - starring Van Johnson. I still remember him marching up the aisles with his baton and fancy red hat to the tune of "76 Trombones." We had the album and my cousin and I would sit and sing along with it - we both loved Shirley Jones as little kids. I still remember all the words and if it's on TV I just have to watch - always makes me feel good like it did when I was a kid.

(599 posts)The movie is paced just right and ends the way most of us would like. Real life seldom works so neatly, but it IS a movie.

(72,188 posts)It takes the "Plucky village takes on a greedy, soulless corporation" trope, and turns it on its head.
The ending can either be viewed as wistful and melancholy, or as hopeful and heartwarming, a sign that the distant, socially awkward protagonist has made a warm, affectionate connection to the people of the village, and is looking forward to seeing them again.
