Dr $130. Facility use $500. Not sure price for anesthesia yet..traditional Medicare.
Don't know when to show up yet bc Dr doesn't know. Trying to arrange medical transport. Finally signed up for Uber. SO picking up RXes. In pain right now. So hoping this gallbladder removal stops all these horrible symptoms. Anxious.

My dad was having extreme abdomen pain caused by an inflamed gall bladder and after he had it removed, voila! No more pain.

(1,172 posts)My gall bladder surgery was relieved my symptoms. I have had to watch fat intake a little to avoid intestinal upset. On a fried fish dinner, I can eat the fried fish and either the fries or hushpuppies, but not both. So, I eat 1/2 the fries and one greasy hushpuppy. You will do great I hope.

(11,841 posts)As others have mentioned, try limiting your fat intake a little.
Good luck 🍀😉

The good thing is once that anesthesia is administered, you don't know anything until after the surgery is completed.
I've been fortunate to have family and friends look after me, be there for me before the days of the surgeries and after.
I truly hope you do as well.
All the best to you XanaDUer2, keep us posted.

(14,371 posts)See, traditional Medicare is not all that bad! If they try to bill you for "facility use" or any other pile-on, dispute that. You'll very likely win. I have in the past.

(9,354 posts)I would think "facility use" would come under part A - which pretty much covers everything but has a $1600 deductible.

(14,371 posts)It was just a gentle warning in case. Scan your bill carefully afterwards. I didn't mean to worry you, friend. I know you're anxious enough as it is.

(9,354 posts)When I was in the hospiral last fall, I was there for 9 days, and the gross charge was was about $112 thousadn. Medicare paid $10,100 approximately, I (or rather my HRA) only had to pay the $1600 deductible. Looking at that $10K, that's a litle over a thousand a day - and looking at the gross charge (since $500 is below the deductible), that's more than 10 times that. So at the very most, they'd be charging for less than half a day - and at the larger amount, less tha 1/20 of a day - a little over an hour. I'm in Colorado Springs, CO, and I'm sure rates differ at least state to state and maybe even city to city. But with prep and anesthesia and the actual surgery and recoverty time to release you, an hour sounds reasonable - even generous.

(15,772 posts)Just trying to understand: do you think I'm being overcharged for facility use?

(34,189 posts)For both out patient and inpatient this was true. Either they will tell you they will call you the day before with the time - or they will ask you to call after a certain time the day before.
Good luck with the surgery! I hope it eases your pain.
