I need help getting a friend signed up on DU...

..she keeps getting a message to enter an id..which she said she did several times but it wouldnt take it..? Shes 81 and would really like to read positive stuff about the election so I suggested she sign up here but shes about to give up. I think I can get her to try one more time. Any chance sunspots are screwing things up?

Advise her to keep her user ID short and simple, see if that helps.

You might try asking the Pros From Dover in the DU Community Help forum

Because there are pop up ads every 5 seconds so you spend all of your time trying to x them out.

...won't she see the ads anyway?
Another thought on her sign-up issues could be her 2 shots at the password don't completely match.
