1986 I saw Bob Seger at the Old Met Center where the IKEA store is at the Mall of America.

Before he broke out into the song, he said.."People have asked me what town is 12 hours out of Mackinaw City! Rochester. Minnesota. "

I rose out of my chair in the middle section of the 5th row and said " Yes!"

Bob Seger saw me and said. "Ladies and Gentlemen! We have a fan here tonight from Rochester. Minnesota!:

The bar he references in the song was the old Roxy. A Biker Bar that used to be at the corner of then 5th St and 1st Ave NW near Broadway. The bar closed down in the late 1970's.

Great song and fabulous concert. My ears rang for a week that December.

I saw Bob Seger at a free concert at U of M in Ann Arbor in the early 70s. A bunch of us rode over from Kazoo for the concert. The only bands I remember from that concert are Bob Seger and Brownsville Station. I didn't know much about Bob Seger before that concert, but he was impressive enough, even back then, that I still can see him on that stage in my mind's eye.
