(38,631 posts)And lean out to reach it because of the way its designed and installed (recessed too far back). The whole time Im thinking about how they warn us to be alert to potential thieves lurking nearby, yet the design of these machines makes you really vulnerable.
Hope they come up with a better one some day.

🙄🙄🙄
Seriously this joke was alerted and I served the jury.
Whoever did that is guilty of no humor bone!! I wonder if they would alert on tall jokes???

(1,977 posts)times they are prohibited from alerting in the future? There should be some limit to how many times you can do that per month.
Of course that would be welcome with frivolous lawsuits too (re: TSF) but we clearly havent reached the limits on that yet, sigh

And, not just for things on the top shelf. . .things at the very BACK of the refrigerated shelves. . like the last container of half and half because the dairy people (both out sick) are not there to restock.

Fortunately, there are some very helpful stock guys and random citizens that help. (6,672 posts)we used to refer to people who were close to getting out as being short.
Someone who was really close was "so short he needed a ladder to get into his boots."

(23,174 posts)I had a Korean sister-in-law who was under 5 feet tall. She was super sensitive about her height. There were several cousins less than 2 years apart and we families got together often. One summer my older daughter had a growth spurt. She was really thrilled when she noticed she was finally taller than one of the adults. But she also knew how her aunt felt. We got to their house and my daughter greeted her aunt with a hug, and then just stood by her until her aunt noticed she was staring down and smiling. It took a second, but my sister-in-law realized, started laughing and said, "Oh Mary!" And they both started laughing. It was a fun moment I'm glad I saw.

(8,747 posts)Plenty of people got bullied in school, made fun of in life because they are shorter.
It's even documented that taller people have an advantage socially ( on average better salaries, opportunities, etc..).
You do not get to tell people who might be offended that they should not feel that way because you are fine with it or that they should get a sense of humor.

(36 posts)It appears there is a trend in motels these days to provide TALL beds. I am 4'11". The motel we checked into had a bed so tall the top hit me 4 inches above my hip joint. The motel refused to provide a stepstool or a rollaway (because someone broke an arm falling off a stepstool and sued). So I was forced to wrestle around furniture in the room and climb on that to get into bed. Sure, that was safer.

(3,246 posts)It's not luxurious to have to climb up onto a bed. Plus, I like being able to sit on the edge. Not possible when they're soooooo high!

(132,429 posts)the experience of being the tallest person in the room. However, I have actually had the experience, not once, but twice!!!
The first time was when I was managing a B. Dalton's in Houston. It had been a very slow evening, and I had let my staffer on duty go home early. Suddenly, the shop was full of people. . .a Japanese merchant marine crew, only two of whom spoke English. Granted, I was wearing heels, but I was indeed the tallest person in the room!
The second time, I was in Reno during a "Little People" convention. Several of them had actually played some of the Munchkins in "The Wizard of Oz". I was on an elevator, and at one floor, about eight of the convention attendees got on. It was a very odd feeling!
