(4,043 posts)I am still angry that they promised 4 TV movies to wrap up the Pretender and then only showed one.
The Good Karma Hospital was excellent -- and then all of a sudden they cancelled it.
Been a lot of good shows lately that the main networks have cancelled to replace with cheaper reality TV.

Although I will say that I didn't think the last season was that good.

(26,507 posts)I'm still pissed that they cancelled this show.
Finally a lighthearted happy law show with a great cast of people in a time when we desperately need some lighthearted fun to watch versus all the forced drama and violence on TV.
I really don't think the network executives understand what the viewing public want or need with respect to 'good and enjoyable TV'.
I'm still clinging to hope that maybe another network might pick up the show or that the execs at CBS have a change of heart.

(315 posts)It was bad enough leaving the original series of the late 80s and early 90s unresolved and hanging in the air. But then NBC brought the show back in 2022 with a continuation series
Finally some real answers... Maybe this time the series will put right what went wrong in 1993
Nope. 2 seasons and 31 episodes later they abruptly canceled this one too!
So now Sam and Ben and Addison are leaping through time and none of know what they're up to

(1,680 posts)They left poor Chief Inspector Gamache bleeding profusely from a gunshot wound as the show ended. The show was loosely based on the mysteries about Chief Inspector Gamache by Louise Penny. At least in the books Gamache continues, but not on Prime!

(13,371 posts)I do not understand why they cancelled such a high quality series.
I read her books years ago and listened to the audiobooks last year. Well, well, done.

(25,667 posts)very redundant or they bring in new characters that don't click.
How many times can Buffy save the world against the worst enemy in the world? How many times can Hawkeye Pierce get annoyed with the weather or not having a certain creature comfort from home. Why did Hot Lips have Farrah hair in the 50s?
Even my favorite shows either went on too long or didn't because they were less than 5 years.
Ok exceptions are Curb Your Enthusiasm and Columbo. But, Columbo was on once a month and Curb kept taking years off . That kept both shows fresh IMO.

(2,551 posts)Set in Los Alamos, New Mexico, among those who designed and built the world's first atomic weapons, Manhattan follows the brilliant scientists who made the bomb a reality, as well as the families who love them and, increasingly, the many spies attempting to steal secrets of the bomb for US allies to better position themselves for a postwar period rapidly hurtling toward the characters.
The second season began + ended at the Trinity test site, where the world's first atomic bomb is about to be detonated, and in that ingeniously circular structure it sets up a bunch of tiny plot bombs in the premiere that it then detonates before the finale.
Sam Shaw:
We've always said from the beginning that to me the most interesting and the most exciting material is just on the other side of World War II. It's a part of this story that I always really wanted to tell, and I'll be really sad if I don't get the chance.... What I know is that there's great stories to be told. I hope we get a chance to do it."

(31,904 posts)The funniest damn show to ever hit any network. And nobody has ever heard of it.
13 episodes and it was done.
They writers sort of wrapped it up with a special "pre canned" last episode because they heard a rumor that it was going to be canceled (it had already moved twice in time slots on Fox). So they made an episode where the prostitute character realizes that going back to prostitution was a better, cleaner life than being a studio production person for a movie studio working with actors, writers, directors, etc.
Jay Mohr was outstanding as Peter Dragon, as was my fathers favorite comedian/actor Buddy Hackett as "Uncle Lonnie". The supporting cast was great too.
The only series that came close was Silicon Valley. But it wrapped up more or less. I mean how many more seasons of "Richard throws a tantrum and almost fucks things up for his brilliant bit of software tech" could they really do?

(692 posts)Read somewhere years ago that even the actors didn't know there would be no more episodes.
