But, the reaction of these rib guys was even better.

(3,157 posts)I'm just getting over COVID and went for about 3 days without eating anything. When I do make ribs, my favorite recipe is called "Last Meal Ribs". It takes me half a day to make them though and I hate to cook. I usually only do it about once a year if that. If anyone wants to check out the recipe, here's a link:

(16,667 posts)Ducked into a place next to the train and saw they had "baked" potatoes. Yum. Will hit the spot. It was obvious they were boiled not baked. We added whatever they had to make them palatable. What the heck, you can not even bake a potato. Was heavenly to get to France.

(4,555 posts)Brits know nothing about braising, or slow cooking? I don't believe it for a second.

(39,153 posts)get our ribs, lol. I don't think they do ribs like us. I watched a Nigella Lawson cooking show and the ribs she cooked looked like they were nothing but bone. And what meat was n them looked really chewy.

(4,555 posts)After all these years of being allies, what have they learned from us? 😂

(39,153 posts)I'll bet they tasted amazing with the marinade she used, but yikes, lol. Here's a screenshot from Lawson's "Forever Summer Red" episode:

We may be allies, but to hear Brits tell it, they suck at steak, burgers, and ribs. And what's with the beans on toast? I tried it and it must be an acquired taste. Or something. But they've got us beat at fish and chips, trifle, and Eton Mess.

(39,153 posts)Terry Black's in Texas and you'll think you've died and gone to heaven. Terry Black's rubs made a teenage girl from New Zealand cry. I think this was at Goldees, rated "The Best BBQ in Texas."

(29,078 posts)A truly unique American food. I had the same reaction as these guys and ever since have been obsessed with it.
I'd just watched one of their episodes yesterday, when they were at George Motz's Hamburger America. Love their shows!
