(1,680 posts)Hoping for good news from the doctor for you both. You've both been in my thoughts. I'm sorry about your family ignoring you. I certainly understand how disappointing family members can be. It hurts that they can't even try. I am no contact with my family now, and although it is a good thing it can feel lonely at times. Please give us an update when you feel able. Take care.

(675 posts)Both of my parents, both dying of cancer, went into what was then experimental treatments. I can remember my dad going through three days of treatments, coming home and we had to take him back to the hospital. Because of what my parents went through, they learned a lot. Their sacrifice was not in vain.

(7,288 posts)On March 1, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. This may sound familiar: three Gleason 9 sets of cores, four Gleason 4 individual cores, and non-metastasized. Following a PET scan, my newly-assigned surgical oncologist informed me that a prostatectomy was unlikely to be successful and I began the process of ADT therapy, then the 28 days of radiology.
During that period, I noted your posts about your Rich. I wanted to reach out, but I was so frightened and depressed that I simply couldn't. In fact, my last post on DU was March 10. I had intended, following treatment, to compose an "I'm back!" post and re-engage, but it seemed pretentious and, as my recovery was very difficult, I found all social media participation impossible.
I'm still shy about participation here, but wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate Rich and give you both a virtual hug. The very best experience during this ordeal was forming a kinship with some of the other men I met along the way. The bond was so strong that we began to come early or stay late to participate in each others' bell-ringing. I rang the bell on July 8 - two of the guys who had finished their therapy before me, and whose bell-ringing I attended, came to my mine. One traveled his 1 1/2 hour slog to be there and I sobbed like a baby.
All of this is say that I am so very happy to read of Rich's success. If his journey was anything like mine, I know how difficult it must have been for you both. To this day, I can see the sadness in my partner's eyes. I fell madly in love with her again after thirty years together. I hope that your bond with Rich is equally as affirming.
I'll likely not participate here much, if at all, in the future. Once again, all my best to you both. Please, please reach out to me personally should you feel the urge to talk. The ADT therapy can be quite a challenge, so if either of you are finding it difficult to cope, know that it does get better and that a "seasoned" ear can be a comfort.
Bless you both.

(26,856 posts)didn't realize it *was* me. Duh on me!
I guess either she decided to take a look, or my sister mentioned it to her.
Anyway I wanted to text her bc I hadn't heard from her, and to find out when -her- radiation treatments were over. I thought she was going to early Oct.
Nope, she's done! 🎉
1I wouldn't have known to ask before you mentioned it for Rich; and, yes, she rang a gong at her treatment place. 👍
Enjoy some relaxing days ahead and more.
