The winters might suck (lately not too bad tbh) but the natural air conditioning from the Great Lakes keeps it from getting ghastly in the summer. The hottest temperature where I live was 92F and we only had 4 days of 90+ weather all summer. Plus, we've turned blue!

Fun Story:
I was watching a Matt Damon interview and Matt attempted to make small talk with Prince once.

Matt said, “So you live in Minnesota? I hear you live in Minnesota.”

Prince said, “I live inside my own heart, Matt Damon.”

The little dork wears these hilariously elevator cowboy boots. Speaking as a gal raised on a generational cattle ranch, I am offended. As the great Molly Ivins quoted, "All hat, no cattle."

Or as in Desatan's case, "All 3" elevator cowboy boots and no cattle."

Born in California. Lived there and in several states (Arizona, New Mexico, Florida, California again, Hawaii, then Altoona PA for about a year, then back to California)

My favorites: Hawaii and California. Florida was just the summers visiting my grandparents, so that was nice, but I was very young. When I was in Altoona, I worked in State College (at AccuWeather). I was there for a boyfriend that I ended up giving back to his parents. (he wasn't quite adulting correctly just yet)

I was never happier to be driving across the Golden Gate after Altoona. I literally had tears of joy. I drove across the country by myself (with my kitty - I don't like living in the snow! Or driving a rear-wheeled vehicle in it.)

Thanks for giving me a chance to revisit memory lane.

Interestingly, of a company of over 400 people, there was only 1 person of Indian (the country) heritage, and one black person. I grew up in the cradle of diversity (San Francisco Bay Area, and then the melting pot in Hawaii). Another reason I was glad to get back to the west coast. It just seemed weird to me to see only white people everywhere.

but my parents were from California and he was transferred to NY office after WW II. He had a deferment due to the type of work he did in the industrial chemical field. When he retired in 1965, we all moved (back) to California.

My second husband and I did not want to raise kids in Los Angeles ( second marriage for us both and no kids for either of us in first marriages) and that's what started our trek across country to Missouri to Nebraska to North Carolina.

My husband died in 2018, but both my sons live within 20 minutes of where I live now. No more moves for me, I hope!

I live on the coast in Gulfport. There aren't many Mississippians on DU. It's not as bad here as some people assume. There are lots of nice people here and the others are usually easy to avoid. The only thing I hate is summertime. It's better here on the coast than in the inland counties, but there are exceptions to that. I'd like to go somewhere with cooler weather, but otherwise I'm content.

Surprisingly, we have a solid blue house member in Johnson County that gradually got tired of MAGA.
