I have an entire album laid out. Just needs lyrics and vocals. I've trained my voice to be 'ok' because of you're going to do something - you might as well do it yourself.
So I have some lyrics I wrote - not the best - but works in practice.
But I can't get myself to record those vocals - thus finishing the album.
What the hay?
Why can't I just fucking DO it.
This is my hobby - nothing more.
But what is it???

(6,793 posts)As an artist....when working on a painting will sometimes come to this point towards 'completion' of the piece. For me, when this happens, the break often ends up doing my creative process some good because pieces that this occurs in during creating, have almost always turned out to be better works than my norm. Does that make any sense at all? LOL

Regardless, I suggest completing it and looking at it like a rough draft. You can always go back and do it again if you don't like it. And you probably won't (like it)!

(14,819 posts)I know I have a decent voice, I'm more than happy singing as part of a group where all are singing...but I'd almost rather die than sing by myself in front of others.

(10,420 posts)Could that be it? That's the reason that I have an unedited manuscript laying here that I haven't worked on in several months. It requires a lot of work which I am reluctant to do to begin with, but I simply don't have the time now days anyway.

So maybe you can get yourself feeling mortal at whatever age you're at? Think about how old you're getting! You don't want to die with that incomplete!
A bit morbid, but it did work for me! Now the thing is finished. Even if never published, it's something I can say I did.
