Is a Zebra white with black stripes or black with white stripes???? Anyone know,? If I knew I wouldn't be asking

Actually, it's reasonably obvious if you look at zebra photos.

On edit: I Google it, which I should have before I posted. According to the interwebs they really are black with white stripes, and their skin is black.

Beneath all that fur, zebras have black skin, too. A shaved zebra, without any stripes, could be almost unrecognizable as an all-black animal.

7. zebras are black with white stipes--the dark color varies depending on the species. I did

not know this till a decade or so ago when my nephew brought it at a birthday party. Needless to say it caused a lot of discussion and or disagreements.

So--my 12 yr old nephew-at that time had a very good birthday--.

shares a lot of characteristics with Zebras, including the black manes and predominantly darker coats, and they have white stripes on their hind legs and belly. Horses like Lipperzanners have been bred specifically for the white coloring, but they come with a host of genetic problems because of it.
