I can also sing The Star Spangled Banner one syllable off, like this:
Oh, say can you see by
The dawn's early light, what
So proudly we hailed at
The twilight's last gleaming, whose
Broad stripes and bright stars through
Through the perilous fight, o'er
The ramparts we watched were
So gallantly streaming? And
The rockets' red glare, the
Bombs bursting in air gave
Proof through the night that
Our flag was still there, Oh
Say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave o'er
The land of the free and
The home of the brave? - and you come up the last note short at the end.
I can get almost any cat to come to me (people, not so much). I can also call cattle in Norwegian.

(28,493 posts)Always, without exception. If I am in your car as a passenger, trust me, you will get an excellent parking space even if the parking gods normally consign you to lower Siberia. On the other hand, the technology gods don't like me and frequently technology doesn't work correctly around me. Weird.

I lived in Roeland Park for a while, but mostly 2 miles east over the state line. I still miss it! KC (metro region) is a great town. Now I even mutter "Go Chiefs," while I paid no attention to them at all when I lived there.

(26,081 posts)Pisses me off. I was not born into the right family, I could never afford what I REALLY wanted. Thankfully, I learned early that there are things I could like almost as much that cost much less. Flexibility is the key to life, IMO.

(11,142 posts)I have yet to find one that I cannot figure out and operate in real time. Tractor Trailers, farm equipment, airplanes, air boats, motorcycles, Segways... the only thing I have never attempted to operate is a helicopter. (I have ridden in plenty, just never flew one.)
I also seem to have the ability to make everyone around me dislike me. I don't know how this one came about, and it did not used to be this way at all, but recently it has been undeniable.
The most fun thing I ever 'operated'?

So, a quick story. One of my uncles was on the team that designed and created the computers for the Space Shuttle program, and they also built and programmed the simulator. On one visit, we got permission to go to the lab where the simulator was set up. It did not have all the fru-fru that is in that picture. It was a frame of rods with the monitors simulating the windows and the control panels. There was no body or even seatbelts on the seats at the time. I got to pilot two missions with my uncle. The first one to release a satellite and the second to retrieve it. Both times, we were almost perfect. We had liftoff. Roll was perfect and so was SRB separation. We did MICO and jettisoned the tank. We did the task. We came back into earth's orbit with the correct angle. We shot through the atmosphere to land at Edwards.
And, both times we came down too hard, blew the tires, rolled the craft and killed everyone aboard. If you have seen the movie "Space Camp', when the kids are in the simulator and the screens all turn red and the front ones say, 'No Survivors', that is exactly what I saw both times.
I tell ya. That thing is like trying to land a brick. (Not my quote, just my paraphrase.)

2. I have prehensile toes. I've been grabbing items and picking items off the floor using my toes since I was a kid. My son has the same ability as I do.
