that is quite non-traditional. Mine is to make sure there are no dirty clothes in the laundry basket and there are lovely clean sheets on the bed to start the New Year.
Happy New Year DUers 😀😀

Think. Again.
(22,456 posts)It makes the occassion a very personal moment to reflect on my recent past and what I hope to do in the near future, a quiet moment of reflection while the rest of the world is being raucus and silly.

(1,142 posts)Wildlights is still going strong and the zoo is open late New Year's Eve for people to enjoy the lights. I sign up for an early evening shift, have great conversations with visitors as we enjoy the animals, and then go home. I enjoy the last Christmas peanut bar and a glass of bubbly then time for me to go to bed no matter what hour it is, midnight or not. Obviously I am not a party animal. 😁
Clean sheets and caught up laundry is a great way to start the new year especially if those sheets have been line dried in the sunshine.

(296,118 posts)I never use the dryer - sunshine is all the energy needed for drying clothes here.😀
Love your tradition

(1,142 posts)Everything else is lined dried. Better for the clothes, the environment and my bank account.
Happy New Year 🎊

(5,393 posts)They always do something crazy, amazing, and totally unpredictable on NYE and it keeps getting bigger and more elaborate each year.
This is their 29th NYE run at MSG. I was there in person in 1995 and am super happy they have been live streaming it for the past decade-plus.
The tradition started with the band riding around Boston Garden on a giant flying hotdog in '94 (which is now hanging in the RnR Hall of Fame lobby), and last year they did a full broadway-esque production of The Man Who Who Stepped Into Yesterday (aka Gamehendge), the guitarist's senior thesis rock opera/fairytale. No idea how they can possibly top that one but excited to find out! The fan speculation and wild guesses on the Phish subreddit are a big part of the fun on both NYE and Halloween.

(10,193 posts)then we give each other a kiss, and make it last until a few seconds after midnight. We call it "kissing in the new year." Don't know how non-traditional that is, LOL.
