When you could fall into an interesting, revealing project like this. 
to the photographer for recognizing it so many years ago.
One of my colleagues in the writing department had an assignment where the student had to analyze a photograph of their choice. I thought it was an interesting assignment, so I adopted it, too. This would have been a good photograph for a student to work with.
