Hi. I regret to inform anyone who knew Laelth that he died. My dad had multiple strokes back to back which cost him most of his mobility and speech. He was in the hospital for months and eventually was moved to a care facility where he passed. It was expected he would get better, not worse. He left with very little funds set aside and I don't have enough for the funeral. Any help and I would appreciate it. Thank you. Below is a link to the go fund me.

(15,771 posts)Sometimes it's hard to keep track of everyone here, but he was a touchstone. So very sorry and I offer you huge hugs in your grief.
Lost both my folks in 2022 & 2023 and I'm still not okay sometimes...

(178 posts)I know a lot of DU members he loved to message and discuss with. He'd been on DU most of my life, all I can remember of it, anyway. Big hugs and thank you

(5,513 posts)I can't imagine going through an experience like that, a good prognosis and all.
I hope your memories will provide cause to celebrate and emotional comfort to aid your grief.
I've always tried to balance loss with gratitude for all I gained from the lost.

(178 posts)Unfortunately, he wasn't. I looked into any social security options and the only thing I could find was death benefits. Those only go to spouse or underaged children. Neither apply here.

(178 posts)Dad put so much work and effort into DU, I had to share the news. I know you all miss him dearly too.
By the way, the easy way to think of pronouncing the name is Luh-el-th

(34,031 posts)He was too young! I'm so sorry.
He was young. Still in his 50's. Arterial Fibrillation caused a clot and the stroke's wiped him out quickly. Once you have one stroke, you're bound to have more. It was just some bad luck.

(71,394 posts)... I really needed. We just got him to give up the car and house about two years ago. I've got some funny stories, he was wonderful.
I am no longer the eldest of the eldest son. I am now the oldest of my generation.

(468 posts)Being a newbie, I didn't know your Dad, but I know that there is nothing like a Dad.
I couldn't donate much, but I gave what I could happily, knowing how important it is to you to honor your Dad's wishes.
A hug for you, and prayers for you and all his family and friends.
