(22,653 posts)I'm worn down physically.
I've been battling some things for several decades now.
And some days., like today, it hits me that I'm worn right down. To a nub.
I try to use humor to abate what is troubling me.
But I'm not finding it today.

(15,772 posts)I personally think Trump is going to be trounced in the midterms. Lots of damage b4 then, I know
calimary
(90,021 posts)Unfortunately its the midterms, and we dont have the pleasure of voting against him again. Thats because its the midterms. And as far as I know, he hasnt managed to sneak anything in about President in Perpetuity. At least not yet.
But dont forget - he recently urged everybody to vote (presumably for him) because then youd never have to vote again.

About that dark place, I find myself there a lot. Sometimes its overwhelming. I battle a lot of things too. All we can do for now is keep fighting. Keep finding joy where you can.

I read both of the filings - it cheered me up.

I hear you - I'm tired also. I have weathered some storms in life - this is so much and too much...beyond the pale...surreal.
I am glad for DU right now - it's a special community.

Everyday I come to DU and leave with a sickening knot in my stomach. I absorb the news in small doses and then have to turn away. My heart breaks..

Do a boring chore then give yourself a treat.
Make an amazing dinner that you spent all day thinking about every detail.
Do a good deed every day but dont tell anyone about it.
Hang in there, bud. Were all in the same boat.

The good news is they pass. You just need to keep reminding yourself, that they will, they are transitory.
I cant count the number of times i felt it was the end of the world and somehow i get through it.

(4,468 posts)Sometimes the best you can do is just turn away. Find something to focus that makes you feel better for a while and stop focusing on what's happening now. You can come back later when you don't feel so fragile. We are all holding on. You can take a break for your sanity and self care. Take care.

(5,778 posts)I'm grateful we have this community (at least for now).
RFK feels like the straw that broke the camels back.
He is so dangerous to public health and other than McConnell, who only cares because it's personal for him, not a single republican feels any responsibility to exercise their constitutional authority. It's frankly terrifying. They'll follow his orders, just like the ss.

It is not often easy to do, but if you can find some moments of peace and hope it can recharge you. At least that is something that I have found for myself. Hang in there!

(55,162 posts)I've been told I look like hell since I'm only 81 pounds. People don't need to use weight loss drugs, they just need be aware of the realistic situation our country is in and will continue to be in for an indefinite period of time.
I wish I were ignorant and stupid and clueless. It mist be a nice little dream-like world where you actually want to get out of bed in the morning instead of hiding under the covers all day. I even stopped watching the news last summer but it did not help much.
I think you feel like this because you are NOT ignorant. If this election didn't depress everyone than they are/were not paying attention to the horrific reality of the situation our country is in.

(9,212 posts)I know you are living with type 1 also which is a never ending stress, and 24/7 work. In some weird way it allows me at times to focus away from other things because it demands my immediate attention a lot of the time.
I am also exhausted and it's only a month into this new nightmare. I hope embracing what is going on with you helps. I tend to just focus my self away from things as a survival tactic. Be good to yourself.

(23,175 posts)Dress for the weather and go out. Think about poems and songs that compliment your bit of ground. Spot colors and stories in the space you're in. Whistle and chirp at the birds. Feed them if that's part of your routine. If you have a tree, hug it. If you don't want to hug it, lean against it and stay there until you feel its energy on and in your skin. If you are near any body of water, go look at it. If you can get aview from a rise, go there and look at your big picture. Something else you can do is take a picture of the same view every day for a week, and see what changes there may be from day to day.
I read that every tree has a face, and if you are in tune, you'll see the faces of trees. So look for them. It is comforting if you see their faces and calming if you are looking.
I read that you can disappear clouds. You look up, and pick a likely cloud, and stare at it, while thinking to yourself, disappear, or any words with the same meaning. When I do this, the cloud I pick increases in size, but thins out and after a bit, is gone. This is a fine activity for a warm sunny day, and very calming.
If you have a clear night, go out and look at the sky. Most of the planets are aligning in the next fews days. You can already see some of them in place, waiting for the others to join the line. If you are far enough north, you might see northern lights.
I've done most of these things so long, I had to stop and think about what pulls me out of a physical or mental funk. I guess the quick answer is nature.
Hope you get back in the pink

I'm going to close this thread.
Thank you for your kind words, and hearts.
Original post copied below.
Have a nice day.
I'm in a dark place.
I'm trying to ignore it.
But it's dark as hell.
I'm unable to look someone in the eye, and say "I'm in a dark place".
Because I don't do that.
Instead, people come to me when they are in a dark place.
And I try to bring them light.
But I can't bring myself light.
Isn't that something?
So I type it here.
While I smile at everyone in my real life, and tell them things are great!
I tell myself to embrace the difficulty.
I guess the difficultly enjoys being embraced, because it doesn't want to leave.
I'm so fucking tired.
You probably are too.
