(10,598 posts)We first went to a juried art fair in a park. Then we went to Beef and Boards (which is a dinner theatre). By the end of the evening we were both hooked (me because he let me eat his serving of black forest cake).

(508 posts)Nice place!
This was back when a purist like me could stand to go to a TexMex place. I admit it, I am a food snob and my Texan Mom raised me on the real thing. Simple dishes, no sour cream in sight.

(3,017 posts)My wife-to-be and I dressed to the nines and enjoyed Jersey Boys on Broadway. We must have looked like Gary Cooper and Ginger Rogers that night as we "put on the Ritz." And the cast put on a terrific show.

Afterwards, I escorted my elegant-looking wife-to-be in high heels to a five-star restaurant for a delicious, unforgettable NYC dinner. My spit-shined patent leather shoes were like mirrors.

(72,206 posts)I took her to Izzy's, a buffet-style restaurant that no longer exists. It was there that I realized we were meant for each other.
I had just been dumped by a girl who used to mock me for my residual Texas-isms, like "howdy"; she didn't like that, and made fun of me in front of her other friends over it. Nice, huh?
Well, the future Mrs. Aristus and I were enjoying the buffet. I especially liked their superb salad bar. I had two helpings of salad while she had entrees. I was just getting up to get an entree of my own, when she asked "Aren't you going to get some real food?"
I replied: "That's what I'm fixin' to do."
She said: "Fixin'! That's so cute!"
I knew we were right for each other.

We had a great time but I almost didn't date him again taking me to movie about a guy fantasizing about a 17 yr old and I had a 17 yr old daughter, my youngest at home with me then.
Moving on this year we will celebrate our 25th anniversary!
