I had a new Liberty when they first came out.
Horrible gas mileage and expensive to have parts or an oil change,

Cars are for getting from point A to point B. I don't like driving big stuff so some sort of RV or converted van would be out. I like driving my wife's Crosstrak, but it is nothing special. I wouldn't want to go any bigger.

(2,561 posts)I loved that car. 1969:MGB
It overheated on the way home when I bought it,
AND it continued to break ALL the time.
But it made me become a fairly good expert on what can go
wrong with a MG. 😜😎 learned how to change a head gasket
in lighting speed too 😍
Could rebuild those single barrel SU carburetor with my eyes closed,
My girlfriend got a brand new MG MIDGET 1976
Geez that was tiny car

(468 posts)Thing rode like a rocking chair, had plenty of leg room, was reliable, and got better gas mileage than one would think. I miss that car! No complaints about the car I have now, it is reliable and gets good mileage, but it just doesn't ride like the Lincoln did.

(76,122 posts)I don't want a sports car. I want a ragtop.
I've been driving Chrysler convertibles for 35 of the last 44 years. (I had a BMW 3 series droptop for 9 years.)
I'm definitely a ragtop guy.
But. I don't care about fadt. I want good mileage, not power.
I used to joke that 3 of my Chrysler's wouldn't do 100mph unless I dropped them from a plane!
So, a four seater is a "must".
BTW: the time I bought that BMW I was trying to decide whether to by it, another LeBaron or a Mitsubishi Spyder. I bought the BMW and wondered for 9 years why I spent the extra money.
So, the car I picked is strictly "if money was no object" per Deb's OP. I'd never spend big money on a car ever again.
LoisB
(12,555 posts)the Chrysler LeBaron. I don't blame you for liking "ragtops" - convertibles are so cool. Like you, I also need the four seats these days. My Datsun 2000 had a removable hardtop.

(6,554 posts)Yeah, there are pricier electric cars available (there's something called an "Aspark Owl" that retails for $3.56M, e.g.), but the Cadillac would be luxury without drawing too much attention to myself And, it's a good-looking car too.

Removing the t-top panels and driving in the warm summer breeze. Long drives at night through beautiful, brightly-lit Seattle.
If money was no object, I would get every Z-model Datsun/Nissan ever produced.

My Super Beetle took me everywhere. Off-road or in the snow, nothing stopped that car. Sun roof, air conditioning and a big engine. And the best gas mileage I've ever had. What more could one ask for?

(14,080 posts)We got it for next to nothing from a drunk lawyer friend who was down on his luck. Unfortunately it was turned into the filling of a car sandwich by a dumbass woman driving without her glasses who rearended us one night.
But if I could have any car I've ever had, it would be the 1985(?) Colt Vista we had. That car was the most fun to drive and went everywhere. Possibility of 3 rows of seats and incredible visibility. The late ex wrecked it one Christmas Eve.
