(12,132 posts)It's probably my favorite "regular" beer - meaning when I don't spend extra for a treat. I'm not a fan of the big 3 (Bud, Coors, Miller) but craft and microbrews can get spendy so when I want a solid, great-tasting beer for everyday drinking it's Yuengling. A big plus is that most places that have Bud will also have Yuengling on tap. They started in Pennsylvania but I think they have a facility in Tampa too so that's why we can get it pretty regularly at good prices.
When I don't care what I'm spending I love Innis & Gunn cask-aged beer. So smooooooooooth and creamy it's like dessert. I also like pretty much everything I've ever had from the Magic Hat brewery.
*Assuming I remember correctly that you are in Central Florida.
And I'm not drinking as I type this but I'm waiting for my wife to get home so we can go have dinner before seeing Led Zeppelin's Celebration Day concert movie of the December 2007 reunion concert at the O2 arena in London. I'll be having Yuengling at my favorite Tex-Mex place.

(47,675 posts)They make a lot of different brews, but Lager is in every bar you go to in PA (sort of like Old Style in the Chicago area). And I'm serious, I've never asked for a "Lager" and have someone look confused by the request - it means Yeungling Lager universally in this state (besides, most people can't pronounce "Yeungling" - it's close to "Ying-ling"
.

(13,985 posts)So I'll go look for it

(4,607 posts)...and I was like..."holy crap!"
I'm hoping to snag a bottle this year. I won't be able to make it to Darkness Day, but some of the liquor stores in my area will have a few bottles.

(25,392 posts)I know they have it on tap sometimes at the Blue Nile.

(4,607 posts)They sell for $18 a bottle at the brewery, but only the first 800 in line get a wristband.
Most people show up the night before and camp out.

(78,249 posts)well, in a way, it kind of is, because few drinking establishments here have nitrogen taps. That, rather than anything special about the Ould Sod, is what makes the difference.

(13,985 posts)I should give it another chance I guess.
Beer rules!! X x x
KamaAina
(78,249 posts)'cause it's even sweet-fruity-hoppier than their IPA!
Also, it was introduced to me by a female beer enthusiast, at an historic saloon on the Oakland waterfront.

(72,187 posts)Made from a 3,000 year-old recipe and sporulated yeasts found in the tomb of the historical King Midas in modern-day Turkey. A "resurrected" brew of sorts. It has a velvety mouth-feel, fruity notes, and an almost overpoweringly malty finish. It's wonderful. Try it!
KamaAina
(78,249 posts)Their recipe is a mere 450 years old (and reconstructed to boot), and as far as I know, all the ingredients are contemporary.

(78,249 posts)Whatever claim Foster's ever had to being decent beer went bye-bye when they started brewing it over here. Yup, it's about as Aussie as Outback Steakhouse.

(13,985 posts)1. Never start drinking beer if you have less than 6 bottles!
2. Always finish your beer! If you don't, you will be subjected to punishment by the galactic counsel of beer worshipsers!!
3. If you're religious, its ok. But the first and most prevelant god is the God of Beer

(27,677 posts)Easily my favorite ale. Rich, complex and hoppy, but not insanely hoppy like so those IPAs these days. You will find it on tap throughout the PNW.

After that, there are some micro-brew porters & lagers that are pretty good, too. I don't have a "best." I'm fond of the local Black Butte Porter.
