The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI found this fascinating. Fairly long, (roughly 32 minutes,) but very satisying for this old heart.
Enjoy this 1894 Singer sewing machine restoration! Personal note, my paternal grandmother had an old Singer hand crank machine and I was allowed to sew on it.

(7,860 posts)Proving if it was first built right. It is worth saving it and restoring it for the next generation.

(1,764 posts)I loved my grandmother's old crank machine, don't know who got it when she passed. I hope they cherish it, it was in good condition.

(1,375 posts)Thank you most-kindly for this excellent posting. And yes, I viewed the entire operation...but of course, you can easily skip-over the too-sexy parts.

(25,807 posts)It was very satisfying to watch this. The making of the film was great too. Must have required a lot of editing. Beautiful!
Nice find.

(1,764 posts)I love my Brother sewing machine, but the Singer sewing machine parts were so beautiful--and no plastic parts. When the restorer laser etched the old filigree and Singer name it was so cool! So much time and effort went into the restoration, it was a labor of love. Hopefully the sewing machine will last another 131 years!
