How did prohibition change American society? The following is from the National Archives.

Prohibition was enacted to protect individuals and families from the “scourge of drunkenness.” However, it had unintended consequences including: a rise in organized crime associated with the illegal production and sale of alcohol, an increase in smuggling, and a decline in tax revenue." I personally think it increased alcoholism in many young people and their families for decades to come.

2. Of course he does. Where can I find it? Please. When I see my ancestors I think I can sadly see the results.

With the 8 of them, I think all but maybe one had alcohol problems. With the men, probably WW2 added to the mix. Then children and gchldren and so it went on. I think it is now going away. I sure hope so.

6. That is very interesting. My mom said she had to learn to cook country for my Texas dad.

But she mainly bypassed the sugar which is probably why I cannot abide many dishes that have sugar added served at BBQ places and church pot lucks. Now I find there is less sugar but way more salt.
