Aren't we glad we grew up in a time where the Motown (and other phenoms) took place? Youngsters, explore that which came before. It will blow you away.

"Bernadette" by the Four Seasons Four Tops features him in top form, but there are far too many others to even begin to list.

(61,033 posts)the house band of Motown which was the soul of the Motown sound.
But please, "Bernadette" was by the Four Tops, one of the big Motown groups, not the Four Seasons who never had anythng to do with Motown.
Mister Ed
(6,993 posts)I had quite a senior moment there. Of course Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons had nothing to do with Motown, and "Bernadette" was sung by Levi Stubbs as part of the Four Tops.
I'll edit my post right away. Thanks again!
brush
(61,033 posts)and the "Tops" were my favorte group. Back in the day our group debated back annd forth were the "Tops" or the "Temptations" were the best grounp. Both groups had big fans...and big hits.

Lyrics:
Good morn or evening friends
Here's your friendly announcer
I have serious news to pass on to everybody
What I'm about to say
Could mean the world's disaster
Could change your joy and laughter to tears and pain
It's that
Love's in need of love today
Don't delay
Send yours in right away
Hate's goin' 'round
Breaking many hearts
Stop it please
Before it's gone too far
The force of evil plans
To make you its possession
And it will if we let it
Destroy everybody
We all must take
Precautionary measures
If love and peace you treasure
Then you'll hear me when I say
Oh that
Love's in need of love today
(Love's in need of love to-day)
Don't delay
(Don't de-lay)
Send yours in right away
(Right a-way)
Hate's
Hate's goin' 'round
(Hate's goin' 'round)
Breaking many hearts
(Break-ing hearts)
Stop it please
(Stop it please)
Before it's gone too far
(Gone too far)
People you know that
Love's in need of love today
(Love's in need of love to-day)
Don't delay
(Don't de-lay)
Send yours in right away
(Right a-way)
You know that hate's
Hate's goin' 'round
(Hate's goin' 'round)
Breaking many hearts
(Break-ing hearts)
Stop, Stop it please
(Stop it please)
Before it's gone too far
(Gone too far)
It's up to you 'cause
Love's in need of love today
(Love's in need of love to-day)
Don't delay
(Don't de-lay)
Send yours in right away
(Right a-way)
You know that hate's
Hate's goin' 'round
(Hate's goin' 'round)
Breaking hate's tried to break my heart many times
(Break-ing hearts)
Don't, you've got to stop it please
(Stop it please)
Before before before
(Gone too far)
Love's in need of love today
(Love's in need of love to-day)
Don't delay
(Don't de-lay)
Send yours in right away
(Right a-way)
You know that hate's goin' around
Hate's going around
Hate's going around
(Hate's going around)
('Round break-ing hearts)
And it tried to break up many hearts
You've got to, I've got to, they've got to
(Stop it please)
We've got to, they've got to, we've got to
Stop it before it's gone too far
(Gone Too far)
Love's love's in need of love
(Love's in need of love)
Did you ever think that love would be in need of love today?
(To-day)
Don't delay
(Don't De-lay)
Send yours in right away
(Right a-way)
Hate's hate's
(Hate's goin' 'round)
Bring it down a little love is very peaceful
(Break-ing Hearts)
So bring it down a little
(Stop it please)
(Gone too far)
(Love's in need)
(Of love to-day)
(Don't de-lay)
(Right a-way away)
(Love's in need)
(Of love to-day)
(Don't de-lay)
(Right a-way away)
(Hate's goin' 'round)
(Break-ing hearts)

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
