1. I've always thought the "bi" was the prefix, and the "opic" refers to vision somehow.

Not that someone being on TV makes them right or an authority but I’ve heard it said that way often.

Myopic, biopic.

The penny dropped when I heard it, luckily before I had any impetus to use it.

since the "bio" part is from Greek and the "pic" part is from Latin - you just never know what people will come up with.

Although "bio" is correct, when it is said out loud the "o" stands by itself.

So, IMO, is should be pronounced bi-o-pic.
