Thinking about sets on tee vee shows

why did the main set in "Happy Days" change after the first season from kitchen to the left of the living room and stairs to its right to the familiar kitchen-right-stairs-left?

(Let's leave Chuck Cunningham out of this, okay? He's been done to... uh...)
