Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsGood vibes and prayers for my Sheltie, please?
He's sick and there are no vets available in my area at the moment.
We are rushing him to Cornell University animal hospital now. About 60 miles away.
I'm not one to ask for vibes and prayers, but please spare a thought for him. He just turned 14. He's a good boy.
Everything is going wrong at once.
Thank you.

(26,068 posts)Prayers for a good outcome are going with you. Our "best boys" are very important. My best kitty boy is having issues and was at the vet today so we're waiting for the test results and giving him lots of cuddles from the "horrible trauma" of getting poked and prodded.

(26,068 posts)We got some new medicine for him which goes in his nose and were worried about that, but my husband (the cat whisperer) managed to get Foggy's head tilted and was able to quickly drop it into the nose with no resistance or fussing at all! Win!
More diagnostics are being done, but he's 9 and no one has been able to figure out why he has such chronic respiratory issues. Maybe this time will be the charm?

(9,446 posts)My 15 year-old pittie is my best friend, she means the world to me. I know how stressful and upsetting it can be to have a sick pup to worry about. Hang in there, Amigo. Give your buddy lots of love, and know that he loves you back.

(22,563 posts)Growth in urinary bladder. Likely cancer. Probable kidney issues as well. They are still running tests, awaiting results.
Thank you all for your good wishes.

I hope whatever time you have left with your Sheltie it's full of fun and love. All the best to you and your Sheltie.

(22,563 posts)Shelties are prone to this type of cancer. The definitive test for this is $900, which we are not performing because it won't change our treat.ent decision...no radiation and no chemo.
NSAIDS should give him another few months of life.
Sad day.

(179,405 posts)It is hard to have say goodbye to a family member. In the last year my older two children each had to say goodbye to their bearded collies They each have new beardies who are really cute.

We had to put our last big dog to sleep within days of finding out he had cancer. He didn't seem sick and we were heartbroken to lose him. A long time ago and we still miss him.
