is having a civilian run into a fire like that for any reason. At least both the guy and the dog got out, although they're probably both injured.

It could very easily have turned into a very sad story on the evening news.

A former neighbor of mine died that way, along with the dogs he couldn’t save. Sad story.

The dogs usually make it back to shore after getting washed away, but the owners trying to rescue them don't make it.

Although it’s objectively foolish, who can blame somebody for trying to save their dog? The dog would surely try to save them if it could.
