(23,452 posts)They are good about inviting me, but the last couple of years, I was unable to go . I've never been to Cape Cod, but always hoped I'd get to go. And I'll get to see my old friend, the ocean

(27,323 posts)We went as middle, older kids with our folks waaay back.
There was a fancy ice cream place we made our parents take us a few times for make-your-own sundaes. I think you pointed to what you wanted and the counter people put it together.
This actually the second time in 4 wks I've been reminded of sundaes! I actually started to look up where in Manhattan I could go for one. Seems a bunch of places! Yippie. 🍧 😄

(23,452 posts)Had all kinds of ice cream, fresh fruit, toppings, whipped cream. The kids, now adults, still talk about it. I hope you find a sundae place where you'll make new memories
My kids have been there before, several times, and have a few places in mind.

(163 posts)If you're there between the day after Labor Day and Columbus Day, the weather is warm, but the huge tourist crowds are gone!
Be sure to visit the overlook at Nauset Lighthouse for a beautiful view. When you get near Truro, make a side trip to Highland Lighthouse. You can tour it including climbing all the way into the lighthouse lens area.
(I proposed to my wife in the surf below Nauset Lighthouse, so the Cape is a special place for us.)

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
