I always thought I was five when my Dad got him for us, but the picture was 1966 so I was actually only 4.

(5,554 posts)Each one of the five before Dakota had their own unique qualities, but they all made me feel loved and protected. He does too, even though he's got a bit more chicken 🐔 in him than his predecessors. 🤣

(5,554 posts)I found on German Sheperds. It pictured a little girl sitting in a field of dandelions surrounded by 4 or five Shepherds. I have always remembered the caption underneath: "They will love her with all their hearts and guard her with their lives." That has been my experience, and I am so thankful to my parents for gifting me with this wonderful breed.

(5,554 posts)His offical name was Rex, on his dog license, but we called him Rexy most of the time. We had him for 10 years before he passed.
