Is anyone watching a documentary

that started last week (and comes out once per week for a total of 4 weeks), The Yogurt Shop Murders? It's heartbreaking but absolutely excellent.....

The second episode aired last night.

case at all but I had moved to CA in '88 and was working SO many hours at a hotel in those days....

I remember watching something about it, but not recently.

Yes. It was four teenage girls who were murdered where they worked (the yogurt shop) in 1991. It happened in Austin. Two of the girls were sisters...

The doc. is on HBO and HBO Max. Streaming channels is a luxury I give myself since shows & movies are so important to me. IMO this documentary is really well done.

4. I nearly just started a thread on this since I saw nothing in the TV forum, but fortunately I did a search first.

It's quite compelling. I'm not a true crime or cold case fan in the slightest. My ex loves that stuff, but I tend to stay clear. But, I read a description of it before it aired and the case rang a distant bell for me. I would have been 25 at the time, and when it made the national news it must have gotten my attention.

I watched the second ep earlier today. Showing the investigators today, referring back on what happened, is powerful. The lead detective suffered so much from the case. It seems to have nearly destroyed his life, what with a ruined marriage and the PTSD he has to deal with.

Seems like hubris on the part of the APD played a not insignificant role in this case going unsolved.

7. Xavier Breath.......

That's why I consider this documentary well done. It shows what everyone has going through. That poor investigator whose life was changed is also awful.

If you can watch the first episode, I definitely recommend it.

9. Oh yeah, I saw it when it premiered.

I've actually watched both episodes twice. I distract easily, and I find a second viewing allows me to catch what the squirrels robbed me of on the first pass.

5. I remember hearing about it over the years. Because it occurred at an "I Can't Believe It's Yogurt"

-That was a widespread chain at the time (before TCBY basically became the leader), and the victims were young teen girls; it struck deeply with a lot of people. This was before DNA was the tool it would later become, but the investigators had the forethought to collect appropriate samples. It is my hope that DNA--perhaps ancestral DNA/geneology--might finally solve this case.

As I stated in another one of my posts, I don't remember this at all.

I am a true-crime follower and quite a few murders have been solved many years later due to DNA and the Genealogy database. The Golden State killer was finally found after having committed rapes and murders from 1974 -1986.

I think there will be additional "citizen detectives" and internet sleuths working on this (as there are now in an organized manner).
