One of the joys of my life is that I never had any interest in having a Vratislavian mistress.

This makes me feel slightly superior to Matthias Corvinus, King of Bohemia, who, according to this history of Wrocław, did have such a mistress, a Vratislavian one.

I have very little information to offer about Vratslavia, other than apparently, according to the internet, they make very good watches. Whether King Matthias's girlfriend had a watch, I cannot say.

I have no idea why it is important to mention, in a history of Wrocław, that Mattias Corvinus had a Vratislavian mistress, but it's kind of fun that who ever wrote the article did so.

Drifting aimlessly around the internet can expose one to the most wondrous arcana.

Almost has a John Cage feel, from the part I heard. Evokes a watch as well though. NNadir Aug 2025 #5

This guy's from Total War: Medieval 2. His quote talks about him "watering his horses on the Rhine." I believe he was a Baltic badass.

Barbara Edelpöck was a daughter of Hans Edelpöck, a citizen of Stein (now Krems an der Donau) in Lower Austria.[3][4] Matthias Corvinus King of Hungary and Bohemia met Barbara Edelpöck during the 1470 Vienna Summit, where Frederick III, Holy Roman Emperor organized dance parties.[5] Matthias took her with him to Buda. On 2 April 2 1473, their child, John Corvinus was born in Buda, whom Barbara began to raise in Besztercebánya in a house given by King Matthias until 1476. In 1476, Matthias married Beatrice of Aragon, and after they had no children, in 1479 he recognized John Corvinus as his legitimate son.

That Barbara Edelpöck, she was definitely a "keeper."

Beatrice, not so much.
