Do you still have file cabinets? If not, what did you do with all those files? And the cabinet?

I have one that has been consigned to our basement and I don't know what to do with it. I fear I will have to paw through it for some long, lost documents.

On the bright side, maybe there are some long, lost love letters...sounds like a project...

1. I repurposed mine when I retired

I have found old papers I wrote for some classes I took in grad school. They were interesting!

5. After we retired from the businesses...

The files got shredded, mostly old invoices, purchase orders, regular office crap…the cabinets we took to a metal recycling place and got some cash. Wish we kept at least one, could use them now. Oh well.

6. Yes. Four Drawers.. all full..all of the time.

We go through every file at least once a year right before tax time.
We get rid of what we can and reorganize.
We have a rental so we have to be on top of all that.

moved with everything in boxes and now we realize we actually need a filing cabinet again!

8. I have what was once a very nice wooden file cabinet with two drawers.

One day, I had a hard time opening the bottom drawer so I yanked it and somehow it got off the rails and stays open all the time, so now the top one won't open at all. As I recall, the top drawer held old invoices and bills that are God only knows how old by now.

four 4 drawer cabinets holding client folders- off loaded the files to the organization my husband worked for. Paid a company to haul the cabinets off. Best thing I’ve done to declutter.

We keep standard stuff in it, like invoices from paid bills & the like.
We have a fire safe for really important stuff, though.

No way I will break up the pair. Wife would love it though. She thinks we don't need the kids report cards from elementary school. haha

I mainly keep stuff like taxes, medical/dental bills, car repair, and a few other things I think are important. A lot of the files I used to keep are now kept on my computer, on an external hard drive, or in my email accounts.
