The way she sings this, with all those little scoops and trills and riffs…she may be the best pop singer out there.

1. I'm inclined to agree

My admiration has grown since she first crossed my musical radar. Admittedly, i don’t listen to much music from the genre in which she got her start, so it takes someone special to get my attention. I recognized a deep and complex soul whose voice and presence elevated her above the miasma of pop schlock. I feel similarly about the amazing Alicia Keys, but that’s a topic for another time.

Luckily, I don’t listen to much music where it’s used. It offends my ear cockles, so to speak.
