Lunch with Shirley MacLaine.

I went to lunch with a friend today, celebrating my 77th birthday. Shortly after we were seated, a party was seated at the table next to us. Two men we absolutely did not recognize, and Shirley MacLaine., who we did recognize. My friend and I of course were discreet and talked about her very quietly.

As it happened, we'd already told the servers we were celebrating my birthday, and when they came out and sang "Happy Birthday", Shirley and her companions also stood up and sang. Wow. What a wonderful birthday.

And am amazed at how she moved through those rooms. She climbs all over the place.

She must be tiny, based on how she looked while dancing on the dresser.

And my band's 1959 record (Tornado by the Jiants) was used in her dj scene in The Last Word about 10 years ago.

She was paralyzingly gorgeous back in the day. In “The Apartment”, she was simply breathtaking.

and wondering if she was OK. Her brother has not been seen in public in years so I assume he is sick with alzeimers or something. Glad to hear Shirley is alive and kicking!
