True joy animals feel when they get "home".
I had a cat named Spook, and we brought her home around 9pm on a summer evening in Edmond, Ok back in 1988. When we went to bed, she curled up by my head and didn't budge all night. I know this because I was so moved, that I must've woken up ten times that night feeling so honored. I've slept on my stomach most of my life using my one or both hands as pillows. I changed my routine to where she would lay her head in my hand just above my head and wed both fall asleep.
Most nights, I was given this gift of gratitude by my Pookie.
She had no whiskers because the kids plucked all of them out, she had been swung by her tail and sent flying, and as sure as I type this, when we left our friends home that evening, she came to me, curled herself around my leg and didn't budge in her love for the next fifteen years.
She was a drooler, only in her happiest state and let me just say that my lap was wet daily, and her devotion to me was never in question.
Thanks for reawakening those heavenly memories Figarosmom. I now of course have Petunia and Cuddles to make those unique memories with.
I truly don't know how people can live alone.
