(2,560 posts)Does this mean I would live in an alternate universe in which no other condiments exist, like in the movie Yesterday? No Beatles, no Coca-Cola, no cigarettes? I think I would like that universe, except I would REALLY miss the Beatles!
I would like to add that this issue was posted in two forums: The DU Lounge, and Cooking & Baking. This practice of posting an issue in multiple forums is one of my pet peeves. There is so much stuff here on Democratic Underground that it's REALLY hard to keep up with it all even if it's posted in only ONE forum. It gets confusing as hell when it's posted in two or three or four, or more, forums. Administrators, I wish y'all would ban this practice. Pick ONE forum and post your issue there ONLY.
There, I finally got that off my chest.

(27,278 posts)I thought condiments were only sauce like items. Didn't know added spices, herbs were considered that, too.
I use salt lightly usually on pasta, eggs, potatoes, and rice.
Otoh, I use garlic powder on almost everything! 😄

(1,113 posts)Boring food for the rest of my life? No thanks.
Well, I have to have salt and pepper. After that, I suppose I would take Miracle Whip, so at least I can make potato salad.

When we stayed at Grandma's, we always had a salad with dinner. The dressing was mayo, ketchup, and pickle relish mixed together. The orange concoction with green freckles was a great substitute for the "real" stuff: thousand island dressing, of course.
I didn't know that at the time. I just knew I looked forward to the salad because it was delicious.
Also, if I'm taking fast food home, I sometimes ask for my burger plain. When I get it home, I put mayo, ketchup, and pickles on it.
Thanks, Grandma!
