Guillotine humor
A priest, a lawyer, and an engineer had managed to piss off the King big time, and they were sentenced to die by guillotine. The King decreed a face-up execution to increase the pain and apprehension of the convicts.
First the priest. He was fastened into the device, and the executioner pulled the lever … and nothing happened. The priest said that he was saved bye Divine Intervention, and if the King knows what’s good for him he had better release him. The King did just that.
Second the lawyer. He was fastened, face up, into the device, and the executioner pulled the lever … and nothing happened. He said that there was precedent for releasing the convict when the guillotine misfired, so they did that.
Lastly the engineer. He was fastened, face up, into the device … and he said “I think I know what’s wrong.”
