I find myself stuck in weird loops now when it comes to the passage of time...

Like today I was driving to work and spacing out when I thought... Hmm, today my daughter is the same age my father was when I was born. So, he was likely about the same as she is now, back in 1971... Then I started thinking about how terrified and unprepared I felt that day we took my daughter home from the hospital and how I was actually kind of surprised that 'they' (the hospital staff) would be so crazy as to just send us home with a baby. From that moment on though, my life split into partions - there was everything before I was a parent (and mostly it seemed to go at "normal" speed, with the exception of a perception problem between 19 and 23 where it seemed to be kind of hazy and pocked with 'did that actually happen?' moments) and then there was the after I became a parent - which has whizzed by like an old 33rpm LP played at 78 rpm instead!

At any rate - happy birthday. May you spend it in good company with better libations and a great night cap!
