(27,326 posts)I really love it; and in the supermarket very gently testing the avocados for a just ripened one, if I wanted to make it that evening.
The only thing I'd do differently is use a little bit of milder chilli powder. Even jalapeños are often too hot for me.

Hassle Avocados should be dark green, if they're nearly black they might be
over ripe.

Use the Stem Trick
Gently try to flick off the small stem cap on the top of the avocado.
If the stem comes off easily and reveals a bright green color underneath, the avocado is perfectly ripe.
If there is resistance or the color is brown, the avocado is not yet ripe or is overripe.
