She wasn't conventionally attractive, they called her ugly.

She was a little hefty, they called her fat. She had acne in high school so they called her Pizzaface. She was voted the "ugliest man on campus" by the frat bros at UT Austin.

But she had a voice, and she used it.

Her name was Janis Joplin.
