Text I just received: "Hi grandpa. I'm okay but a little stunned. I missed a turn and hit the curb then a parked car. My

phone won’t turn on so call me here at xxx xxx xxxx.”

Unless my daughter has been keeping something from me, I don’t have any grandchildren!

Don't answer it and delete it. They usually want a gift card.

Most grandparents don't see their grandkids often enough to recognize them for certain, so scammers send messages like "Grandpa help it's an emergency and I can't reach Mom and Dad if I don't put up bail money they're gonna throw me in jail".

They only have to fool one person occasionally to make it pay off.

He'd been arrested in Poland.

LOL. He was pretty surprised to hear that when I called him to check.

Some years ago I got a letter from a major insurance company wanting to know if I was dead, and if I was, who should they send the life insurance money to. Turned out that my mom had taken out a policy on me at birth, which was not an uncommon thing back in the 1950s. And thanks Mom, I was able to borrow some money against the policy to help pay for my daughter’s college bills.

I need to help her, again.
She can be a pain.
Again, I'm sorry, Floyd.

I figure they get it off of Facebook.

Last caller who said he was my grandson had an extreme NY accent. We live in NM. The caller says - “Hello Grandma- this is your grandson _____.
Big clue as my Grandson always just says Hi Grandma. Plus, I rarely answer the phone for I number I don’t recognize.

The caller hung up when I asked why he was talking with a NY accent.

My “grandson “ is always stuck in Mexico.
