(12,126 posts)My desktop PC is still being problematic but at least it's operable currently so that I can provide DU's Halloween countdown.
When I leave for vacation in a few weeks, my PC tower will be traveling with me because I know some people who are reliable in repairing PC's.
I'm still here even if this week was hectic for me.

(11,551 posts)However, I have nothing to do these days. I am too decrepit to go do haunted houses like I used to. We spent the last ten year living in a place that had zero use for the holiday, did not have a single trick or treater because the kids all knew not to go to that horrible group of townhouses, and in fact I got in trouble with the HOA because I used two colored lights in the outside fixtures for that evening (And just that evening, I put the old ones back the next morning!), so I have not done anything other than decorate the house for my own pleasure in that time. I miss the fun of this holiday, but with the current climate, there is not a person in the world who would let their kid go to the door of a house where they don't know the people inside. Which is funny to me, as we certainly did not care about that when we used to go out.
For someone who use to live for the holiday, I guess I am done. Being empty all the time is no fun.

(12,126 posts)It's a lifestyle.
There's going to be a day when I'm old and decrepit to do much of anything but until then I'll carry on and continue the Samhaim/Halloween traditions.
There's a reason why I post these threads. That reason is to keep things seem as normal as possible in this current nightmare political climate.
Do what you can and keep on keeping on, OldBaldy

(11,551 posts)I celebrate Samhain and give a nod to Dia de los Muertos as well.
But, I used to have all kinds of fun during the holiday as well. That is the part that I miss. That is the part I am lamenting losing.
That and the ability to find joy in anything.
I appreciate your attempts. I hope others do as well.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
