He's looking far too closely at one and only one stock. Diversification is key. As would be price-averaging if you simply buy more of a stock over time.

For what it's worth, my wonderful financial advisor (he's been with me for some 25 years now) moved much of my investments from stock funds to bond funds starting back last November. Hmmm, what happened back then? Oh, and he's been able to increase my monthly pay-out by several hundred dollars at the same time.
